Creative Marketing Japanese Idol Group Works As Taxi Driver To Get More Fans
One pink taxi that runs around the Nagoya city is attracting attention. The crew is a member of the female idol unit "TAXI'Shez" ( タクシーズ ) who works as a taxi driver as a side job while performing entertainment activities. In addition to stabilizing their income, they strive to acquire new fans as a “singing and dancing entertainment driver” who actively interacts with their passengers. Therefore, they will get their new fans through this project.
The project was launched in February last year as a joint project by local taxi operator Fuji Taxi Group and talent agency Miraikuru. The women take turns driving a pink taxi during the day and performing as a group on weekends.
The three members are Tomoyo Kuno (30), who is a model, Yu Umeoka (24), and Marina Ichiki (38), who is an actor. All of them are professional drivers who have a "Type 2 license" required for passenger transportation.
Customers are given a pink certificate shaped like a business card as souvenirs, which the group promotes as a gift that will bestow the holder good luck with money.
Working as a cab driver also gives the three women an opportunity to publicize their individual activities to customers, although their current goal is to hold a concert as a one group.
As we all know, the income of being an underground idol in Japan is not much to meet their daily needs. The side jobs they are doing now as taxi drivers, are better than them working on soap land, hostess and being an AV actress which are often done by new idol artists to get side income. "Bravo" to them to enter real world and creative marketing.
