Pizza Hut's Taiwan Controversial Turtle Pizza Sparks Online Debate

Pizza Hut Taiwan, known for its occasionally unusual pizza flavors, is at it again! This time, they're testing a "Zhixin Double Cake Turtle Pizza" featuring a chicken pastry crust, red bean filling, and a surprising twist: salty cilantro and preserved rice grass cake toppings. This unique pizza, priced at 399 yuan, has netizens buzzing.

The news first emerged on social media, with blogger Han Jing sharing a leaked promotional document. It included a picture of the turtle pizza, which some compared to a "stoned frog." This wasn't the first glimpse for those on PTT (a Taiwanese online forum), where user "tom11725" posted the same picture alongside a photo of the actual pizza.

Pizza Hut Taiwan has a history of venturing into unconventional territory. The internet reacted to the turtle pizza with a mix of amusement, disgust, and intrigue. Some comments expressed outrage on behalf of Italian cuisine, while others were open to trying this "work of art."  A few even joked about buying it for the upcoming Qingming Festival (a tomb-sweeping holiday in China).

However, not everyone is thrilled. Leaked posts from a Facebook group supposedly by Pizza Hut employees reveal frustration with the challenges of making these elaborate pizzas.  They complain about the time it takes to prepare them and question if these artistic creations are practical during peak hours. Unfortunately, the information available suggests the "Zhixin Double Cake Turtle Pizza" might be a test product and not confirmed for release in Taiwan.
