MasterChef Roasted Over Malaysia Rendang Dish

It's funny when a person who are master in cooking does not know the real taste of another country cuisine and give a statement that they know everything. This happened to Judge John Torode and Gregg Wallace said Bristol-based Zaleha Kadir Olpin's chicken Rendang needed "crispy" skin.

"I like the Rendang flavour, there's a coconut sweetness. However, the chicken skin isn't crispy. It can't be eaten and all the sauce is on the skin so I can't eat it," Mr Wallace remarked.

The controversy has caused a social media storm in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, where people -- including responses from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, former PM Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the British High Commissioner to Malaysia Vicki Treadell. -- have expressed shock and annoyance at the apparent ignorance of the UK judging panel.

The netizen said "They clearly weren't familiar with food from other parts of the world because if they were, they would have had the knowledge to know what real nasi lemak is". In a traditional Rendang, the meat is slow cooked in a coconut-based curry sauce, and should be tender and moist, not crispy.

The Malaysia KFC also congratulated Malaysian MasterChef UK contestant Zaleha Kadir Olpin despite being booted out of the programme.

MasterChef UK judge John Torode has removed his controversial tweets about Malaysia's Rendang dish following regional outrage and saying "Maybe Rendang is Indonesian, Love this!! Brilliant how exited you are all getting .. Namaste."

The Netizen both countries say, what's the problem if it's belongs to Indonesia or Malaysia? It's clearly he like to provoke the Netizen both countries to argue the dish's origin, but the fact is he failed miserably about South East Asian food. The fact is Rendang is not crispy for both country cuisine. Maybe he will say Sushi and Sashimi belonged to the British ? Damn fail and LOL.
